Private-Sector Employee
Employers must provide a safe workplace and report accidents; injured workers are covered through the Social Security Fund.
Iraqi Labour Law No. 37 of 2015, together with Occupational Safety and Health Requirements Instructions No. 12 of 2016, requires employers to provide a workplace free of recognized hazards, implement safety procedures, provide protective equipment and training, conduct risk assessments, and report workplace accidents and occupational illnesses to the relevant authorities. Employers must preserve accident records and medical reports. A worker injured on the job is entitled to compensation through the Social Security Fund (see Social Security & Worker Protection) or other employer-provided insurance, depending on the severity of the injury.
